Zambia, P 44d, B146d, 1000 Kwacha 2005

Omschrijving

The 2003 - 2012 notes are similar to the preceding issues, but with smaller zeros on all corner denominations above 500 kwacha, and with an electrotype denomination added to the watermark. The two low-denomination polymer banknotes were withdrawn the day after their initial release because the serial numbers could be rubbed off easily. As many as 9,000 defective notes were issued before the problem was discovered. In November 2003, both notes were reissued with the same date but a modified ink formula. These new polymer notes were subsequently found to fade prematurely, forcing the printer to absorb the cost of replacing unfit notes.
