Papua New Guinea, P1a, B101a, 2 Kina (1975)

Omschrijving

On 19 April 1975, Papua New Guinea introduced its own currency, the kina and toea. The designs of these notes were rendered from photographs, drawings, and actual objects by Willie Stevens, a Papua New Guinea artist working with another artist from the Reserve Bank of Australia. To reduce public confusion, the color schemes are similar to the Australian notes they replaced at par. Until the end of 1975, both currencies circulated, but as of 1 January 1976, the dollar was withdrawn and was no longer legal tender.
