Gambia, P 16, B213a, 5 Dalasis ND (1996)

Omschrijving

The Central Bank of The Gambia introduced a new series of upgraded notes on 25 July 1996. The upgraded banknotes have the same sizes, watermark, and generally the same colors and appearance of the preceding issues, although the use of vertical and horizontal serial numbers is new. The main difference being that each denomination bears a new portrait of a typical Gambian citizen instead of President Jawara, who was overthrown in a coup d’état led by Lieutenant Yahya Jammeh on 22 July 1994.
